Familia
"Familia" is a Day of the Dead inspired family portrait. This humorous work is painted by renown artist Francisco Franco in both the Native heritage (skulls and death-goddesses are common in pre-Columbian art) and the Spanish heritage (the death-orientation of the monastic orders, and the dance-of-death and 'memento mori traditions).
This is a giclee (zhee-klay) print, an individually produced, high-resolution, high-fidelity, high tech reproduction done on a special large format printer. Giclees are produced from digital scans of original existing artwork.
The prints are printed with ultra-chrome inks on archival canvas, sealed with ArchivaCoat Gloss, a water based liquid coating designed to enhance the durability and increase the lifespan of printed images. The canvas is then finished with a museum wrap; a finishing technique for artwork mounted on stretchers. The canvas fabric is wrapped and mounted onto wooden stretcher bars with no visible staples on the edge of the frame, leaving a clean professional look. No framing is necessary.
The prints are all done in house at Francisco Franco Studios. All prints are personally signed by the artist and come with a certificate of authenticity.
